Frequently asked questions

How many GB do I need for a one-week trip?
For a typical traveller using maps, chat, social media and some video, 5 GB covers about a week. Heavy video or hotspot sharing can push the same week past 20 GB, which is why this calculator asks for your hours instead of guessing.
Are these numbers accurate?
They are transparent averages: video 1.5 GB per hour, social media 300 MB per hour, maps 50 MB per hour, video calls 400 MB per hour, music 80 MB per hour, browsing 60 MB per hour, plus 60 MB a day of background chat and notifications. A 20% buffer is added on top.
What happens if I run out of data abroad?
You simply buy another plan and install it — an eSIM does not need a physical swap. Still, topping up while travelling costs more than sizing the plan right the first time, which is why the estimate rounds up.
Should I choose unlimited instead?
If your estimate goes beyond roughly 20 GB for the trip, a daily unlimited plan is usually cheaper. Note that unlimited plans have a full-speed daily cap and slow down after it, then reset the next day.
